General Info

Dihydrocodeine is a semi-synthetic opioid which acts as a depressant or an analgesic to treat moderately severe pain and shortness of breath as well as acting as a cough suppressant. It is said to be approximately twice the strength of Codeine.

DihydroCodeine can be taken orally in the form of white 30mg tablets marked DF118 or Ampoules which are injected. Co-dydramol tablets contain a mixture of Dihydrocodeine and Paracetamol.

Effects

  • Dihydrocodeine can cause euphoria, reduced anxiety and users say they feel relaxed.
  • Dihydrocodeine can also cause drowsiness, confusion and disorientation for the user.

Risks

  • In the short term a user can develop a tolerance to the drug.
  • It can increase the likelihood of accidents.
  • It can lead to overdosing.
  • Repeated long term use can lead to physical and psychological dependency.  Injecting it can cause damage to the veins and the circulation.
