The Welsh Baccalaureate from 2015
We have developed Community and Global Citizenship challenges and themes for Individual Projects on all of our Key Stage 4 lessons and have also based some on our Key Stage 3 lessons. You will find challenges written specifically for each of the lessons in our All Wales School Liaison Core Programme Challenges for the Welsh Baccalaureate handbook below.
In this section of the website, we provide follow up material to support teachers.
Within the pupil section, students can research further into specific topics.
The context of the challenges applies to all the lessons:
- “Following your visit from your School Community Police Officer (SCPO), identify and develop your own perspective about an issue in your area. What do you think would be the best way to deal with / support / or prevent this issue?”
The skills learners will demonstrate and their importance:
- As well as developing outcomes such as thinking, questioning, decision-making, solving problems, working together and empathy skills, through our challenges, students will gain Creative Thinking, Problem Solving, Creativity and Innovation, Planning and Organisation, and Personal Effectiveness as Essential Skills.

Challenges_for_the_Welsh_Bac.pdf- These challenges are written specifically for the lessons AWSLCP can deliver as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate.
PSE_Framework_-_Welsh_Bacc_-_AWSLCP.pdf- This document outlines how the All Wales School Liaison Programme fits into the Key Stage 4 Personal and Social Framework 2008 and the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification. Suggestions for activities and possible personal investigation themes are included, which are all supported by Programme lessons in years 10 and 11.
Welsh_Bacc_-_Evidence_of_visit_by_SCPO.doc- Pupils may also record details about each lesson delivered by their School Community Police Officer on our ‘Evidence of a visit from an SCPO’ form. This can be kept in the pupil’s Welsh Baccalaureate folder as evidence.
